Monkey at the Controls

Actually there is nothing new. I continue to despise politicians, the majority of whom are nothing more than pompous assholes. As for the general population, the majority of those who bother to vote continue to demonstrate their naivete by putting idiots in power.

Take Dalton McGuinty. This monkey is now at the controls in Ontario. Who knows how much damage he will manage to do over the next five years. Is he really an idiot? Obviously not. He's intelligent, articulate and well educated. The only problem is, he is arrogant enough to believe he has some ability to employ political means, I.E. force to improve the lives of Ontarians. No one has the intellectual capacity to accomplish such a feat.

The complexity of human affairs is such that even intelligent people like McGuinty cannot accomplish any net benefit within his jurisdiction through the use of force. All he can do is shift benefits around. Some people will benefit but most will not. A man at the controls of human society is no different from an idiot at the controls of a spaceship.

While obviously not an idiot when compared to the rest of mankind McGuinty has chosen a vocation which makes him effectively a total buffoon.

There is one other possibility though. Perhaps McGuinty knows exactly what he is doing and is willing to play the role of the naked emperor just to bask in the glow of the admiration of all of the other idiots who do not see just how impotent this person really is.

So maybe McGuinty isn't an idiot. That's certainly more than can be said of the fools who put their faith in him.
