Job 15Part Two: AlbertaSpring 1978 Canadian Tilt-Up Designs - LabourerWithin a matter of days I had found a job with Canadian Tilt-Up Designs. Ed was also hired. The pay was $5.50 per hour. This company would build concrete buildings. The walls were built while laying horizontally on the ground. After the concrete solidified, the unit would be hoisted into a vertical position by a crane. The work itself involved slogging around in mud swinging picks and sledge hammers. I learned how to use these tools, as well as a few others, like shovels and crobars. After three days of this misery I decided this type of work was unsuitable for a man with my background and education. My good friend, Ed, arrived at the same conclusion so we both quit.
