Website Wins Award from www.democrats.com

When I logged on to the free stat tracker I use to monitor traffic to my site this evening (May 14, 2001) I was hit with a major surprise... my page views were way, way up! At first I thought perhaps it was some kind of technical glitch but upon further investigation discovered that most of the new traffic was coming from www.democrats.com.

Of course, I went directly to www.democrats.com to see what nice things they were saying to direct so many of their visitors to little ole me. I missed it the first time through but later observed that I had been given a special award! My site had been chosen to represent the Barf Bag Award of the Week!

Reading through the lauditory section became clear to me that the person who selected my site for the award had not bothered to actually view the main or home page on my site. Had he or she done so he/she would have (should have) realized that raybo.com is definitely not

run by Frederick Seitz, professor emeritus at Rockefeller University (not too choosy, these days, are they?) and Frederick Singer, self-proclaimed (and completely uncredentialed) global warming "expert."

True, I do have a page in my bookstore pointing to Hot Talk Cold Science: Global Warning's Unfinished Debate by Singer, S. Fred Singer, Frederick Seitz at amazon.com but I fail to see how this one page would lead the reviewer from www.democrats.com to draw the conclusion cited above.

Perhaps this is merely a salient example of the quality of liberal observation and thought.

The page they chose to link to was not the Singer/Seitz page on my site but rather my depiction of what to expect from liberals should a majority of them ever become smokers. Some of the visitors sent to me by www.democrats.com were kind enough to leave comments attesting to the intellectual rigor and lucidity of the liberal rank and file. Here are a few examples from Monday, May 14, 2001

• rob gave this page a rating of 1 and said "what a crock!"
• Chris gave this page a rating of 1 and said "Tobacco Industry propoganda."
• Jim Allyn gave this page a rating of 1 and said "Smokers deserve second hand Red Man!"
• Ms. Stongid C Rucrmpstel Jr. gave this page a rating of 1 and said "Flunstead flandippy crnhchar tattimawnkus. Imalonsa clenbukkit!"

One of these liberal visitors seems to have found her way to my allergies page and left the following well thought out diatribe:

Yourcomments re betty and her allergies could not have been serious , not in this age of awareness. for your info. please note that many alery victims are sensitive to various toxins. Natural vegetation burning releases some NATURAL elements of course. However, u can x make a comparison bet. tobacco smoke and wood smoke. cig. smoke contains numerosu potent carcinogens , wood smoke does not.

when peopleps addictions or their political bias prompt them to spill out total trash and misinformation, as in the above piece, we must all be grateful for government intervention. without it we all be prey to the addicts and right wing bigots of this rapisly deteriorating world.

considering your importance to humanity, light up many Camels and inhale deeply today (see Anti-Smoking Hate Campaign Aided and Abetted by the Hamilton Spectator . Be altruistic and do this for society. jaye

Anyhow, I guess any award is better than no award so I want to thank my friends at www.democrats.com for the traffic but please be a little more vigilant in attributing the source next time.
